The Need For Purification
It is necessary to purify the church members as they arrive in the church premises for prayer or worship. The reason is that they contact defilement several times and in several ways in a day, as they move from place to place and as they go about their normal duties and daily routines. For example, many go to market to buy or sell things. One thing people usually forget is that the market is the throne of Satan because it was established with blood of persons used in making idols. Some the unfortunate sacrifices were strangled to death, buried alive or buried upside down. In other words, all the businesses going on inside the market are just the same as blood money.
Another thing people also forget is that the number of unseen idols is far greater than the seen idols. Indeed, Satan has tricks, ways of making people become initiated into his kingdom, even when people do not want to. Each time you bend down to buy or sell, you are already worshipping idol without knowing it. How blind and ignorant people are, spiritually. That is all the more reason why everybody should study Spiritual Science.
Furthermore, other sources of defilement are the charms and ritual sacrifices on the road. You may say that it does not concern you. But, it does, one way or the other. The rain usually washes these things into the soil and the flood will carry them, mix them up and spread them all over the ground, where people step on. Even urine, faeces, phlegm and spittle, from people you do not know, are mixed with flood and spread over the ground. In other words, you are always directly or indirectly in contact with those things you abhor.
You should understand why Jesus directed the ministers of God to use holy water in washing the feet of the children of God. If it is good to wash the hands with which we touch only good things, then understand that it is far more important to wash the feet which we step into holy and unholy places.
Also, the church premises should be purified from time to time. The evil ones may come and deposit things inside the ground or walls, without people knowing it. When the water of purification is sprayed on the walls and grounds, the evil deposits are destroyed.
Even when yourself is ritually clean, you may come in contact with those who touched corpse, grave, or unclean things.
You can now understand why the prayer houses encourage people to spray holy water on themselves, at the gate, before coming into the holy premises.
